Gate Guarding

For the past year or so, Rick & I have talked on and off about Gate guarding in TX. The past couple of months, we have gotten very serious about it. We have always talked about 'going RV'ing' but now this is it. We want to. We have decided to. His brother and wife are Gate Guarders in TX and have explained to us what it's all about.

We are so serious that I am getting that nervous, excited feeling. You know, the one you get when you are getting ready to do something big and new and are scared but ready?! I'm scared & I'm ready. Hubby is ready! I think he's a little nervous but he's definitely more level emotionally about it than I am. We both know it's what we want.

We have 2 grandsons within 7 miles on each side of us here, we have the land and our home and 6 kids, our animals. We definitely have to take Ernest & Gypsy with us. I'm sure that won't be a problem. Most Gate Guarders have their pets with them. Annabelle might be another story (my 125# great dane). We are working on that one. If I have to leave her, I will be a mess & so will she. She was scared of her own shadow when I got her at a year old and I'm the one she looks for, trusts & loves the most when that door opens. She is literally like my child..she has attached herself to me in a big way & that has made me even more attached to her. I know she expects me to be there and not betray her by leaving her for weeks at a time.

Ok, a real biggie..it's going to be hard enough leaving our kids behind..5 of them, Rikki will be going w/us since she's only 15. She is excited!! But leaving our 2 grandsons..oh, have mercy! We are used to seeing them every few days..a week is the longest we go without seeing them. But SIX WEEKS?! We will be bawling our eyes out less than a week into the trip!! They are going to be changing so much! How will we manage? We are going to be missing out on milestones! Landen is getting ready to crawl, then he will be walking. Cooper says a word or 2 once in a great while but we have only heard him 2 or 3 times. He's going to be talking soon! Will they forget us? Will they be shy when we come back? Then we will have to leave them again! I better not think too much about this bc it is going to cause me to have 2nd thoughts!! I always wanted our kids to live close when they moved out and now I feel like we are abandoning them! :(

We are a close family, this is going to be very hard on some of us. It's a huge life change. If we have internet and phone service that will help but not all places have those services and that would be very rough. That is our link to the family. 6 weeks can seem mighty slow when you have little to no contact with the family. We might have to make sure we go to places that have phone & Internet. At least phone!

Oh, I am now obsessed with Gate Guard blogs lol I have found some really good ones!

It's time for me to read & get some sleep. I'm on the 3rd & last book of the North and South series: Heaven and Hell. Good books. He puts a little too much detail in some areas that are kinda boring but they don't last too long and are worth it. These books have me so hooked. Rick & I even enjoyed the North and South dvd series. His mom owns them and we have watched them a couple times. Great movies! I love Patrick Swayze so that was a bonus.

Goodnight all, sweet dreams :)
